The widely used Smart Battery standard, which has been released by the SBS Forum, defines several classes of devices typically available in a battery powered system:

Data (battery), Charger, Selector and Manager

Each of these devices is standardized as a SMBus slave.

Our products telos Tracii XL and telos Tracii XL 2.0 offer a sophisticated solution for analysing Smart Battery Systems (SBS).

There are IRD files available, which make debugging of a Smart Battery setup a lot of easier.

The traced data bytes transferred by Smart Battery devices are converted into human readable clear text by using this feature.

Picture 1: Raw Mode

For example in picture 1 you can see that an SMBus master has transferred an 0x16 to an SBS battery. Without the SBS standard on the developer's desktop this value is very difficult to interpret

Picture 2: Value Mode

In picture 2 you can see the high-level interpretation of the transferred data bytes.

Another example can be found in the pictures 3 and 4.
